Within a couple of clicks and swipes, that fancy looking cutter you've seen in your favourite cake magazine is in your virtual basket and due for delivery in a couple of days. But how can you guarantee that what you've paid for isn’t a fake? Over the course of the next three issues the CD&S and FMM Sugarcraft teams are going to investigate, expose and educate about the contencious issue of counterfeit goods within the industry. This month we are looking at how bogus goods affect the environment and how toxic the materials used in fake production can be.
Don’t get us wrong, there are numerous advantages to shopping online; you can do it in your pjs, you don’t have to negotiate with aggressive sales assistants, you save time by not having to leave the house and sometimes save money too. Ultimately, it’s easy. On the flip side though there are disadvantages too; you can’t touch or test potential purchases, there’s the continuous supply of hard-hitting sales messages, not forgetting the potential threat of having your payment card hacked, but most importantly, and what we are going to focus on, is the risk of receiving phony or copied goods.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
The subject of copying within the cake world has once again reared its ugly head, involving a whole host of brands including fi rm favourite FMM. We believe this is due to miseducation.
