You will need:

Edibles:

Equipment:

  • cake of your choice filled, covered and mounted on a covered cake board
  • airbrush paint: we've gone for blue and green here, but you can use any colour of your choice.
  • airbrush (Cassie Brown)
  • empty colour mixing bottle
  • turntable

1

Mix even quantities of blue and green airbrush colour into the empty mixing bottle to make emerald green, around fifty drops of each should be enough to cover the cake.

2

Turn on the compressor and select the low setting. Add colour to the well, and keeping the airbrush upright, begin to paint the top of the cake using a circular motion. Do not try to achieve a deep colour straight away. Two or three thin layers will give you a nice even finish and prevent drips.

3

Keep the airbrush around 15cm from the cake at all times when colouring large areas, and start at the top as paint will fall down as you work. Carry on until the cake is the desired shade of green and leave to dry.
