It can be difficult to find a card you like for the special men in your life, so why not make one instead? This tutorial shows you how to make four ‘cards for him’ which you can then adapt depending on who you’re sending to – whether it’s your dad, brother, son or friend.

'It’s a hoot' birthday card for him

You will need
- Making Cards & Papercraft Make It For Him digital craft papers
- Brown card
- Sentiment by Craftwork Cards
Method
- Create a 15cm square white card blank.
- Cut a 14.5cm square of brown card and attach to the card front.
- Trim two owl images to 6.8x8.5cm and two panels of diamond paper to measure 6.85cm. Adhere to the card front leaving a narrow border around the outside and between the four sections.
- Attach a sentiment to the top right panel using foam pads.
'Biker owl' birthday card for him

You will need

- White, brown & dark brown card
- Sentiment by Craftwork Cards
- White Candi
Method
- Create a 15cm square white card blank. Cut a 14.3cm square of diamond paper and mount on brown card leaving a thin border.
- Attach to the card right-hand side of the card front. Trim the image to 8.5cm square and double mount on dark brown followed by brown card.
- Fix to the card front using foam pads.
- Add a sentiment to the top right of the image panel and three white Candi to the bottom right of the brown panel.

You will need
- Making Cards & Papercraft Make It For Him digital craft papers
- 6x6 scallop card blank by Craft UK
- White, Kraft, caramel & brown card
- Dotty embossing folder
- Hello Thanks by Die-namics
- Die-cutting machine
- Brown gingham ribbon
- Candi
Method
- Cut background paper to 13.5cm square and mount on Kraft card.
- Attach hessian ribbon across the middle and trim the ends flush. Fix gingham ribbon across this piece and secure the ends at the back.
- Attach the panel to the card front of your scalloped card blank.
- Cut caramel card to 8.5x10cm and emboss using a dotted embossing folder.
- Mount onto Kraft card and glue at an angle to the right of the card front.
- Mount the explorer topper on Kraft card and attach to the card front with foam pads. Die-cut ‘hello’ from brown card and fix to a die-cut white circle. Attach to the card front with foam pads.
- Add Candi to each corner of the card front to finish.
Little dude

You will need

- White, blue & red card
- Star punch
- Buttons
- Blue adhesive pearl
Method
- Create a 13.5cm square white card blank, fold at the top. Cut blue card to 12.5cm square, mount on red card and fix to the card front.
- Cut two pieces of patterned paper each 4x11.5cm.
- Mount on red card and fix to the card front.
- Attach a strip of red card across the middle of the card front. Mount the topper on red card and as shown with foam pads.
- Glue three buttons to the bottom corner.
- Punch a star from red card and add a pearl to the centre.
- Attach to the topper with foam pads.
