We had a chat with Frank Garcia, Marketing Director at Prima Marketing

Frank Garcia from Prima Marketing talked to us in the November issue of Making Cards and Papercraft, all about his role with the company, which creates flower embellishments in the scrapbooking and crafting industries as well as many other beautiful crafty supplies. We also asked him about upcoming trends and whether he has any hints and tips to share!

Frank Garcia

Hi Frank! Can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Frank Garcia and I live in Los Angeles CA. I am a scrapbooker, mixed media enthusiast and mini album lover. I grew up and have lived in Los Angeles all my life. I went to school and got my degree in Clinical Psychology. I am also a self-taught graphic designer, so I have been dabbling in graphic design since I was in high school. I love designing paper collections and creating new products
to make pretty things. I recently opened my own studio in SoCal and I am really excited to have a place to share all my beautiful projects, products and classes with everyone. I work at Prima every day and spend most of my free time at my studio. I suppose my hobby is my job and vice-versa, which makes my job super fun. I truly love what I do and I consider myself very lucky to have an opportunity to create for a living.

You’re certainly a busy bee! Please, tell us more about your role at Prima Marketing.

At Prima, I am the Marketing Director; I coordinate all of our releases and do the photography, catalog and marketing collateral for all of our products and brands. I work with our social media team and also work with our sales department to bring content to our retailers and partners.

What do you think is the most important thing about being Marketing Director?

I think the most important part of my role is making sure our products look beautiful and are presented in the most beautiful ways. We always want to make sure people know that we create and manufacture quality products that last a lifetime and can be used to capture their memories and create beautiful things.

Can you give us any insights into upcoming trends in the cardmaking world?

Well I think there are plenty of trends in the industry for sure that are coming back, certainly layered stamps, shaker cards and interactive cards that people have been creating for a while are making a comeback. I am always excited for these trends because they can be incorporated into other crafts.

We’ll bear that in mind! Do you have any crafty hints and/or tips for readers?

Create pretty things that make you HAPPY! This is not much of a tip, but honestly it sometimes is good to know that creating should not be stressful or hard, it should be something happy and rewarding. Create things that make you happy regardless of what anyone else says! Create with meaning! Sometimes life gets in the way, but always find time to create and play! For me, it is a great escape from the ordinary and everyday life, so find time to make pretty things and enjoy!
