Moving house is one of the top life stressors so after all that hard work, there’s nothing quite like receiving a personalised handmade new home card to celebrate the occasion. Or if you’re the ones who’ve moved, you could make a card to let friends and family know... when you’ve settled in, of course!
The following tutorial by Pauline Bird shows you how to make four cards using colourful free digi craft papers – simply download and print to get started. These home papers are perfect if you know someone who is just moving. From young ones flying the nest to the couple finding the retirement home of their dreams – these papers are the best way to wish them well! New home card ideas

New home – green door
What do I need?
- White card
- Making Cards & Papercraft Digital Craft Paper Collection
- Computer & printer
- Green & light green card
- Green dotted ribbon
Method
- Create a 13x18cm white card blank.
- Cut a 12.5x17.5cm panel of green card. Cut bonus patterned paper to measure 12.2x12cm, then cut light green card to 12.2x5.2cm. Adhere the panels to the dark green card with the smaller piece at the bottom. Wrap with ribbon to cover the join and secure with a knot on the right. Attach to the card front.
- Computer generate a sentiment and print under the topper with the green door (you could stamp a sentiment if you prefer).
- Trim the topper to 8.5x12.5cm and mount on green card, cutting into a banner shape at the bottom.
- Attach the topper to the left side of the card front using foam pads.
New home – pink door
What do I need?
- White card
- Making Cards & Papercraft Digital Craft Paper Collection
- Computer & printer
- Pink & black card
Method
- Create a 15cm square white card blank and cover with black card leaving a narrow border of white. Cut pink card slightly smaller than the black card and fix to the card front.
- Cut bonus patterned paper to 14.5x8cm and mount on black card, leaving a thin border at the top and bottom only. Fix across the middle of the card front.
- Trim the topper with the pink door to 11x9cm, mount on black card and attach to the left side of the card front using foam pads.
- Computer generate or stamp ‘NEW HOME’, fussy cut the letters and adhere them to the card front as shown using foam pads.

Home sweet home
What do I need?
- White card
- Making Cards & Papercraft Digital Craft Paper Collection
- Computer & printer
- Black card
Method
- Create a 15cm square white card blank. Trim bonus patterned paper slightly smaller than the card front, mount on black card and fix to the card front.
- Cut a 9.5x13cm panel of different bonus patterned paper, mount on black card and attach to the left of the card front.
- Trim the topper with the orange door to 10x11.2cm and mount on black card leaving a narrow border. Adhere to the centre of the card front using foam pads.
- Computer generate a ‘Home Sweet Home’ sentiment, fussy cut the words and layer each one on black card. Attach to the top right of the card front with foam pads.

What do I need?
- White card
- Making Cards & Papercraft Digital Craft Paper Collection
- Computer & printer
- Black, blue, green & pink card
- Layering Circle dies by Tattered Lace
- Die-cutting machine
Method
- Create a 18x13cm white card blank with the fold at the top. Cut blue card slightly smaller than the card front, mount on black card and fix to the card front.
- Cut a 17.2x12.2cm panel of patterned paper and mark a point 4cm along the bottom left edge. Trim diagonally from this point to the top right corner and adhere the top section to the blue card.
- Die-cut the topper with the blue door using a 10.8cm circle die and layer on a slightly larger circle cut from black card. Adhere to the right of the card front using foam pads.
- Cut three different sized banners from three different colours of card and attach to the top left corner of the card front overlapping one another.
- Computer generate a ‘We’ve moved’ sentiment and cut to 6x2cm. Mount on black card leaving a narrow border and adhere to the bottom left of the card front using foam pads.
