How to make a 1/24th scale Art Deco Occasional Table

This circular sectional miniature table is based on an original American Art Deco table, and makes a stylish item for a 1/24th scale dolls house or room box; double the measurements to make it in 1/12th scale.
You will need:
3 X 3/4" WOODEN DISCS (Hobby Craft), 1 x 1" WOODEN DISC, 1/16" THICK SCRAP OF STRIPWOOD (Wood Supplies), WOOD STAIN, PERMANENT BLACK MARKER PEN, VARNISH or SHELLAC, PVA WOOD GLUE (Deluxe Materials), SANDPAPER or EMERY BOARD, MINI SAW or CLIPPERS or CRAFT KNIFE, PROTRACTOR, SMALL CLAMPS.
Step 1
Cut a quarter out from 2 of the smaller wooden circles. Find the centre of the circle and use a protractor to make the right angle as accurate as you possibly can.
Step 2
Glue the remaining smaller circle centrally on top of the larger circle. Clamp and allow to dry.
Step 3
From the scrap 1/16" thick strip wood, cut 2 x 3/16" squares AND 2 x 3/16" x 1/8" rectangles. Sand gently to remove any rough edges, but do not distort the shapes.
Step 4
Glue the 2 squares to the underside of one wedge shaped circle.Glue the 2 rectangles to the underside of the other wedge shaped circle. Take care to wipe away any glue spillage with a damp cotton bud, as gluey wood will not take a stain.
Step 5
Glue the larger section centrally onto the prepared base. Support with scraps of wood whilst the glue sets.
Step 6
Glue the smaller section on top and diametrically opposite to the first piece. Add extra support to this piece and allow the whole supported table a few hours for the glue to set firmly.
Step 7
Slide out the supporting wood, gently sand if necessary, and stain with your preferred wood stain. Use the black marker pen to go around and define the edges. Varnish and polish to a nice shine.
TOP TIP
Remember that most of this piece is supported by nothing more than fresh air, so be delicate and gentle with your table whilst sanding, staining and polishing to avoid having to re-glue!
