This beautiful Tudor costume is enriched with gold trimmings, pearls and crystals. ...

DURING  the Tudor period, as with many other historical periods, one’s wealth was very much reflected in one’s clothing. Rich silks and velvets with embroidery and fancy braids were a must for any wealthy lady. Popular colours at this time were Autumnal with accents in black.

Instead of hunting for tiny embroidered fabrics that can be bulky, try some of the lovely printed quilting cottons that are available or even some of the lovely tiny patterned silk brocades and jacquards.

Look for medium-narrow fancy braids or use two or three tiny braids glued close together.
