About Susan Bates

Susan Bates

Susan Bates is an experienced cross stitch designer and her work appears in CrossStitcher magazine. She has produced a number of cross stitch books with the Turkish company Tuva Publishing and she has had some designs included in a book of Christmas themed cross stitch designs by the US company Craftways. Her designs are also on sale as kits with DMC, Herrschners and Tuva Publishing.

Susan’s background is in painting but her love of sewing prompted her move to work in the field of needlepoint. Then she tried her hand at cross stitch and, due to its popularity, has been designing cross stitch patterns ever since. She has depicted many subjects in cross stitch but is perhaps best known for her colourful and detailed floral designs.

In her spare time she likes to knit and crochet and often teaches one-to-one beginners classes at a sewing school in her local town.
